Hi, I’m Anthesis and this is Indie Game Preachers. Each Friday I recommend interesting and exciting indie games that I think you’ll love.

Today I have 6 game recommendations + some extras!

Welcome back and thank you all so much for joining - it really means the world to me!

As always, let me know if you have indie games that you believe more people should know about. You can ‘reply’ directly to this email with your suggestions. 😁

Just a quick update: Indie Game Preachers is reader and sponsorship funded. If you want to help support the newsletter and indie games, then I’ve launched a Ko-fi for donations / support. You can see it here. ❤️

Any help at all is appreciated! There is no need to donate. Please only do so if you can afford to / want to support. 😊

This week I received my first ever donation from Erik who is the reason I set up a Ko-fi.

Thank you so much Erik! 🎉

Game #1 - ANTONBLAST

A FAST-PACED, DESTRUCTION-BASED PLATFORMER!

GENRE: 2D PLATFORMER, ACTION, DESTRUCTION, EXPLORATION

ANTONBLAST came out 3 days ago and has already hit the ground running!

It’s action packed and full of fun. Using Anton’s hammer to destroy everything in your path makes for great gameplay.

I really enjoyed the boss fights too. It helps change up the gameplay and keeps it fresh.

The art style and comedy are also highlights for me. You’ll see that immediately in the trailer.

You play as Dynamite Anton (or his coworker Annie) on a mission to reclaim Anton's stolen Spirit collection from Satan himself.

Armed with the Mighty F’n Hammer, you’ll smash through quirky worlds, face colossal bosses, and team up with Brulo, a disgraced casino owner with his own vendetta against Satan.

Each level challenges you to set detonators, recover Anton’s Spirits, and escape before time runs out.

I think this is one of the best platformers this year. Highly recommend.

Game #2 - Dusk

MY FAVORITE INDIE BOOMER SHOOTER

GENRE: BOOMER SHOOTER, FPS, RETRO, HORROR

If you love Quake and Doom then this is a must play in my opinion.

Dusk is one of my all time favorite indie games!

It is a major reason I started playing a lot more indie games.

Dusk is an indie boomer shooter that captures the magic of id Software in the 90s.

The movement and shooting mechanics are great.

The level design is superb too.

A lot of people will have heard of Dusk, but if you haven’t actually played it yet, then please do!

Game #3 - Farewell North

RESTORE COLOR TO YOUR HUMAN’S WORLD

GENRE: STORY RICH, DOG RICH, ADVENTURE, JOURNEY, PUZZLES

I first discovered Farewell North about a year ago on Youtube when the dev, Kyle Banks, started sharing his devlogs.

I loved the concept and have been excited to play the game ever since.

I also own a Border Collie so there may have been some bias there too haha.

Farewell North is an emotional adventure game where you play as a loyal border collie on a mission to restore color and joy to your human's world.

Set in the stunning northern isles of Scotland, you’ll explore atmospheric, handcrafted environments inspired by the Scottish highlands.

Herd animals, help wildlife, solve perspective-based puzzles, and uncover hidden paths to bring life back to the world while unraveling a heartfelt story of companionship, trust, and saying goodbye.

With open-world exploration across lush fields, steep cliffs, and oceanic islands, the game invites you to embark on a touching journey of connection and discovery.

Game #4 - ICBM: Escalation

EVERYTHING IS AT STAKE IN THS RTS.

GENRE: RTS, STRATEGY, COLD WAR, MIL SIM, PvP, CO-OP

ICBM: Escalation is a new RTS that has been receiving a lot of good reviews.

It’s a grand real-time strategy game that thrusts players into global warfare, balancing conventional combat and nuclear devastation.

You can command massive armies, develop advanced technology, and secure dominance through strategy and diplomacy.

It has multiple modes including Standoff and Conquest, where players can engage in escalating conflicts or focus on long-term tactical mastery.

Progress through technological eras, form alliances, and shape global outcomes in a mix of single-player campaigns and competitive multiplayer battles.

Game #5 - OTXO

A SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO HOTLINE MIAMI

GENRE: ACTION ROUGELIKE, TOP-DOWN SHOOTER, NOIR

If you’ve read Indie Game Preachers for a while, you’ll know I love Hotline Miami.

OTXO is the perfect game to get your Hotline fix.

What I love most is that OTXO has rougelike elements which I think is a perfect addition to the formula.

There is a huge array of guns to choose from and over 100 abilities which can be acquired.

Runs are always different, so the replayability is huge!

Game #6 - Homicipher

A HORROR DECIPHER GAME

GENRE: HORROR, ATMOSPHERIC, CODE BREAK, POINT AND CLICK, OTOME

Homicipher is a unique point-and-click adventure game combining language deciphering with romance and horror.

I came across this when exploring Steam and it got my attention.

You play as a protagonist trapped in a mysterious world, learning to interpret the gestures and words of non-human beings to uncover their language and find a way home.

Along the journey, you might form bonds—or even fall in love—with the monster men who assist you.

With branching paths, choices, and potential instant deaths, the game offers replayable chapters, no penalties for failure, and a focus on exploration and discovery rather than affection management.

The game might be slightly more niche, but I think you’ll know if this game is one you’ll like. :)
