Game #1 - Post Void

I LOVE THIS GAME!

GENRE: FPS, PSYCHEDELIC, FAST PACED, ACTION ROGUELIKE

Available Platforms: PC, PS5, Steam Deck, Switch, PS4, Xbox One

*Warning: Post Void has a ton of flashing images so it won’t be suitable to those who are photosensitive.*

Wow, I really loved playing this!

Post Void is a psychedelic, first person shooter that focuses on SPEED.

Made by the same duo that created ā€œKeep Drivingā€ which I featured in the last issue.

The game starts with some poetry that gives you some idea of where you are, but it still leaves a lot open to interpretation.

The gameplay loop is simple. Work your way to the other side of the labyrinth whilst eliminating enemies, before time runs out.

In your hands is your weapon and your totem.

Your totem signifies how much time you have left to complete the level. This naturally depletes during your run, but each enemy elimination will restore the totem and give you more time.

In total, there are 11 levels. Each with progressing difficulty and new enemies.

When you complete each level you are given 3 upgrade options to choose from. Weapon upgrades, totem upgrades or other skills.

There isn’t a large range of upgrades, but this gives the game even more replayability that it already has.

The running and gunning in this game is absolutely amazing.

The controls are sharp and it is so satisfying when you get chain of eliminations in a matter of seconds.

Post Void hasn’t left my mind since I played it. It is very addictive and is one of my favourite indie games to date.

An issue with the game for some people would be the visuals.

Contrast is maxed out and if you play for a long period of time you may get a headache. However, the gameplay is designed to be quick and snappy (60-120 secs per level).

For me this isn’t an issue, but you may want to consider it before playing.

Lastly, the game is really cheap ($3) so I don’t think you can go wrong with this.

For me this a MUST play!

Game #2 - Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders

A REALLY GREAT SKIING CO-OP GAME!

GENRE: SKIING, CO-OP, SPORTS, MULTIPLAYER, RACING, PvP, PvE

Available Platforms: PC, STEAM DECK, XBOX CLOUD GAMING, XBOX SERIES X, XBOX SERIES S

I don’t play too many sport games, but I’ve always really enjoyed a great skiing/snowbaording game ever since I played SSX years ago!

This game isn’t as intense as SSX, but it did get my attention, as I haven’t seen a skiing game I was interested in for a while.

Snow Riders focuses more on the chill yet still challenging vibe whilst also offering co-op fun!

You can hunt for shortcuts, try to master the perfect run, or just enjoy the stunning mountain views.

Skidding across frozen lakes, launching off cliffs, and wiping out in spectacular fashion never gets old.

You also unlock new tricks and gear as you progress so there is a good amount of replayability.

The only negative is that the price is higher than your average indie game, however, if you do really enjoy skiing/snowboarding games, then it is worth price.

Game #3 - Ropuka’s Idle Island

A COZY IDLE GAME THAT RUNS ON YOUR DESKTOP

GENRE: IDLER, RELAXING, UTILITIES, COZY, CASUAL, 3D

Available Platforms: PC

In Ropuka’s Idle Island, you get a tiny frog on your desktop who just cuts grass all day while you work, play, or relax.

The grass he cuts lets you upgrade his tools, improve the island, and unlock decorations to make his little world even cozier.

You can place the game anywhere on your screen, resize it, and let it run in the background, making it the perfect low-key companion.

There’s even lofi and nature sounds to help you focus.

It’s like having a tiny, hardworking frog buddy keeping you company while you go about your day.

Game #4 - Magic Archery

AN ORIGINAL ARCHERY CLICKER GAME

GENRE: CLICKER, IDLER, FANTASY, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Available Platforms: PC

This is a short and satisfying upgrade game where you take a regular nobody and turn them into the greatest archer ever.

Train your aim, shoot targets, complete quests for gold, and unlock upgrades to boost your skills. You can even infuse your arrows with magic for extra power.

It's fast-paced, has a clear ending, and offers pure incremental fun as you grind your way to archery greatness!
